Adsterra banner advertising
The interactive map and individual world dossier pages display banners supplied by Adsterra and its advertising partners. Banners load automatically worldwide unless you have opted out. The advertising-policy endpoint does not use your country to determine eligibility and does not store your IP address or location. If the policy cannot be loaded or your browser cannot access preference storage, automatic advertising stays off.
Adsterra and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies, IP address, browser and device information, page context, and advertising interactions to select, personalize, deliver and measure advertisements. This may constitute sale or sharing of personal information or targeted advertising under applicable privacy laws. See Adsterra's privacy policy for processing, partners, international transfers and privacy rights.
To opt out, open Ad choices or Do not sell or share my personal information and select No thanks. The map remains available without Adsterra ads. The choice is shared across languages, the map and dossiers. Allow ads expires after 180 days; No thanks remains until you change it or clear browser storage. Withdrawal reloads the page to stop further Adsterra requests; it does not erase information already received or third-party cookies, which you can clear through your browser. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track disable these banners. These controls apply separately from Google's advertising choices. Updated September 14, 2026.
Information processed when you visit
The site and its hosting providers process ordinary request information needed to deliver and protect the service, such as IP address, browser type, device type, requested page, approximate region, and timestamps. Cartographia also records limited interaction events, such as opening a world, changing eras, copying a link, or sharing a record, to understand which features are useful. Do not submit personal information through map controls.
Analytics and hosting
Cartographia uses Cloudflare for hosting, security, performance, and privacy-focused web analytics. Cloudflare may process request and device information to provide those services and defend the site from abuse. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Advertising and cookies
When advertising is enabled, Google AdSense may use cookies, local storage, IP address, device identifiers, page context, and advertising interactions to select, deliver, limit, and measure ads. Depending on your location and choices, ads may be personalized or non-personalized. Learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services in Google's partner-sites notice.
Your choices
Where required, a consent message is shown before advertising storage or personalized ads are used. You may decline optional purposes or revisit the available privacy choices. You can also manage cookies in your browser and control ad personalization through Google My Ad Center. Blocking optional storage may reduce ad relevance but should not prevent access to the map.
