Overview
Piscina IV’s defenders have already learned what an ork invasion costs. The Dark Angels helped throw it back, but the work of garrisoning the world remained after the great fighting passed. Watch stations need men even when no enemy can be seen from them.
The forts stand ready for another assault. Their crews have little reason to assume the last one settled anything. With help harder to reach beyond the Great Rift, a report from the outer defences can mean that the soldiers hearing it will have to fight with what is already on the planet.
