Overview
At the Eastern Fringe, a place where a ship can obtain repairs or a reliable bearing may serve people far beyond its immediate inhabitants. Crews arriving from long journeys need supplies before they can be useful to anyone else. Their ability to leave depends on arrangements that would attract little notice nearer the Imperial centre.
This marker indicates a remote frontier region. Its position is approximate, reflecting routes whose usefulness rests on local stations and settlements continuing to endure. A small failure can close a long stretch of space to a vessel already travelling near the limit of what it carries.
