Overview
A settlement on Fenris can be threatened by the sea beneath its boats, the winter coming down on it or the ground on which it was built. The tribes have names and stories for these dangers. Knowing the stories is useful. Surviving long enough to tell them is less certain.
The Space Wolves recruit from the people who endure this life. They leave the tribal world largely as they find it, with its feuds, hunting grounds and dead. An aspirant who reaches the Chapter has already survived years of selection without knowing that anyone was watching. Those left behind continue the same work in the same cold.
History
The Space Wolves have preserved Fenrisian tribal life as a source of recruits. Conditions that kill many inhabitants produce survivors whose instincts suit the Chapter. The hardship continues with its approval.
Published records disagree over the world’s galactic position, placing it in Obscurus or towards the Ultima border. The chart retains an approximate position rather than resolving that disagreement through certainty the sources do not supply.
Military significance
Fenris provides aspirants to the Space Wolves, whose aggressive warfare draws on strong personal loyalties and a willingness to act independently. The Chapter’s keeps and fleets defend the system. Its reputation gives lesser attackers a further reason to seek another target.

Fenris remains a loyal Chapter homeworld. The people beneath its defences continue their own harsh lives and provide the next generation of aspirants.
