Overview

Cadia was a fortress world built in defiance of the Eye, a place where military readiness was not policy but climate. Its cities, training fields, pylons, and bastion lines formed a planetary commandment: the gate must hold.

Cadian society measured worth through discipline, service, and the capacity to endure proximity to damnation without bowing to it. Even its civilians lived under the shadow of muster bells.

History

Cadia's history is the history of watchfulness at the Cadian Gate. Generations were raised under raid alerts, crusade musters, and the knowledge that the Imperium's northern door stood behind them.

Its destruction in the Thirteenth Black Crusade did not erase its function. It converted the planet from fortress to martyr-symbol, a transformation the Imperium understands with terrible efficiency.

Military significance

The Cadian Shock Troops became an Imperial standard for disciplined combined arms warfare. Their doctrine favored drill, marksmanship, professional command, and stubborn obedience under impossible pressure.

Cadian formations after the world's fall are strategically useful and spiritually weaponized. They are survivors whose uniforms accuse the galaxy.

M41 and M42 status

M41 · Pre-Rift

Standing fortress at the Cadian Gate.

M41 status: Cadia stands as the principal fortress of the Gate, overburdened but intact. Its regiments and bastions are treated as the lock on the Eye.

M42 · Era Indomitus

Destroyed fortress world; its name persists as a military oath.

M42 status: Cadia is destroyed. Its surviving soldiery, name, and tactical culture persist as oath, shame, and exportable defiance.

The shattered remains, all but swallowed by the widening Rift, are now Chaos-held — first garrisoned by the Black Legion, later wrested away by the Iron Warriors.
