Overview
Tizca made Prospero a centre of psychic learning, a city from which Magnus and the Thousand Sons drew knowledge as well as recruits. The civilisation gathered there depended on the belief that such study could be mastered. The force sent to bring Magnus to account destroyed the city in the fighting that followed.
Survivors escaped into the warp, leaving the homeworld behind them. Prospero and the Planet of the Sorcerers remain distinct places. Magnus’s later effort to rebuild the former serves a new dominion and its wars. Buildings can rise again without restoring the life for which the ruins are remembered.
History
The expedition sent against Magnus bombarded Prospero and assaulted Tizca. Magnus and surviving Thousand Sons escaped into the warp, leaving their civilisation destroyed. The Legion’s official account treats that catastrophe as a decisive step towards its fall.
Military significance
Prospero’s scholars and population supported the Thousand Sons’ psychic disciplines and recruitment. Both the Legion and the Space Wolves later returned to fight among its ruins. Magnus’s nearby dominion gives the world renewed military importance in the Indomitus period.
M41 and M42 status
Devastated former homeworld
For most of the millennium, Prospero remains devastated. The Planet of the Sorcerers later arrives nearby, changing the local strategic situation without making the two worlds identical.
Being rebuilt under Magnus
Magnus orders rebuilding as part of his New Kingdom. Repopulation is reported, without a dependable census, and the work supports military production. Ancient Tizca’s institutions are not thereby restored.
