Overview

An artificial sun burns inside Lucius. Around it, within the planet’s hollow crust, the forge complexes draw on an achievement whose workings the Mechanicus does not share freely. Much of what feeds those complexes must arrive from elsewhere. Even this immense construction depends on the next cargo of raw material reaching port.

When Tyranids attacked, the fighting could be directed from below the surface. Robots and servitors went up to meet them. Recovery teams brought damaged machinery back for reuse in the next replacements. The defenders could keep account of the components returned. The world’s endurance depended on how quickly they could be sent out again.

History

Lucius developed distinctive weapons, vehicles and Titan designs while keeping its manufacturing knowledge closely held. A late-M41 Tyranid invasion tested the advantages of its hollow construction. The masters directing the defence could remain beneath the ground while sending machines to fight above it.

Military significance

Legio Astorum, the Warp Runners, is based on Lucius, and its forces make use of teleportation technology. During the Tyranid attack, recovery teams retrieved components from destroyed robots and servitors for fitting to replacements. The process kept usable material in the defence long after the first machines carrying it had fallen.

M41 and M42 status

M41 · Pre-Rift

Imperial forge world; repelled Tyranid invasion

Lucius defeated the Tyranid invasion through a prolonged defence sustained by recovered machinery. That victory establishes the outcome of the recorded attack, without settling what happened in later wars.

M42 · Era Indomitus

Imperial affiliation recorded; later planetary condition unverified

The available references retain Lucius as an Imperial forge world. They provide no complete post-Rift account of its population, damage or deployments. Those details remain unconfirmed.

Chart placement and sources

Provisional placement

The reproduced Adeptus Mechanicus eighth-edition map places Lucius north and east of Cypra Mundi and Mordian, northeast of the Eye.

The source uses large heraldic panels, so their centres cannot be treated as exact stellar coordinates.

Source-reviewed regional estimate in the existing 0–1000 chart. The retained galaxy anchors, exact point and any ring size are not surveyed coordinates or territorial boundaries.
