Overview

Necromunda is a hive world of stacked empires: noble spires above manufactoria, manufactoria above gang territory, gang territory above poisoned underworlds where forgotten populations survive by violence and barter. Its atmosphere tastes of industry and old crime.

The planet is a lesson in Imperial tolerance. Disorder is condemned in sermon and cultivated in practice, so long as the weapons leave the factories and the tithe ships depart on schedule.

History

Necromunda's ancient industries and house structures hardened into a social machine. Clan, cartel, guild, noble contract, and Administratum demand all became parts of one brutal production order.

The hives have burned, mutinied, starved, and risen again. Their continuity is less triumph than habit enforced by profit and punishment.

Military significance

Necromunda supplies arms, munitions, conscripts, enforcers, and hardened fighters familiar with enclosed violence. Its gangs are not formal regiments, but their habits feed recruitment pools and local security forces.

The world matters because hive industry turns human misery into exportable force. This is not admired in official language. It is merely filed as efficient.

M41 and M42 status

M41 · Pre-Rift

Ancient hive world feeding arms and manpower to the Imperium.

M41 status: Necromunda remains a dependable, polluted arsenal world. Local disorder is managed, exploited, and occasionally purged.

M42 · Era Indomitus

Industrial hive world under heavier tithe pressure.

M42 status: Rift-era shortages increase pressure on Necromundan output. The hives answer with harsher quotas, deeper gang bargains, and more bodies moving into the furnaces of Imperial demand.
