Overview

Armageddon is a furnace hive world of ash wastes, toxic skies, armored highways, refinery continents, and populations trained by geography to endure poison before breakfast. Its hives do not rise out of wilderness; they rise out of industry that has made the wilderness lethal.

The world is important because it turns production and suffering into military mass. It is also cursed by its location in the attention of enemies too numerous and too stubborn to remain dead.

History

Armageddon's modern identity was forged by repeated invasion and defense. Each war left a deeper military bureaucracy, a thicker shell of fortification, and a population that learned to treat catastrophe as local weather.

Its greatest campaigns against ork invasion made the world's name an Imperial shorthand for attritional planetary war.

By sealed Mechanicus record, Armageddon is the re-colonised body of Ullanor Prime: after the War of the Beast the ork throneworld was teleported to the edge of Segmentum Solar, its destruction faked and its origin buried beneath a new name.

Military significance

The Armageddon Steel Legion embodies mechanized endurance: armored infantry, disciplined convoy warfare, and hard survival in toxic conditions. The world also draws in Astartes, titan assets, naval power, and Guard formations from far beyond its own tithes whenever the war returns.

Its military significance lies in the fact that losing it would give enemies industry, position, and legend. The Administratum hates losing all three.

M41 and M42 status

M41 · Pre-Rift

Contested hive world scarred by major ork wars.

M41 status: Armageddon remains an active fortress-industrial world whose scars have not closed. The Imperium treats it as a shield, factory, and open wound.

M42 · Era Indomitus

Still militarized, toxic, and strategically overburdened.

M42 status: Armageddon endures under heavier strain as Rift-era logistics falter. Its hives still produce; its war zones still demand; its dead are still counted as useful precedent.

Timeline

War of the Beast: after the ork empire falls, the Mechanicus teleport the stripped Ullanor Prime to the edge of Segmentum Solar, later re-colonised as Armageddon.

Industrial tithe orders increase refinery and armored vehicle quotas.

The First War for Armageddon: Khorne cultists and the daemon primarch Angron with his World Eaters ravage the hives before the invasion is contained.

Hive militias are folded into larger planetary command schedules.

The Second War for Armageddon: Ghazghkull's first great WAAAGH! is broken in the ash wastes and refinery fields.

The Third War for Armageddon reignites; commanders classify the planet as a standing theater rather than a settled rear world.

Post-Rift supply gaps make every surviving forge stack more valuable.
