Overview

Armatura concentrated the work of preparing an army. Legion warriors and human troops trained there, supplied by manufacturing and protected by defences strong enough to make the world a major military centre of the Great Crusade. There were many people on the ground whose task was to make other people ready to leave it.

The Shadow Crusade brought catastrophic fighting to that concentration of men and equipment. The devastation is recorded more securely than anything that followed. Ten millennia later, the surviving accounts do not establish what became of its training grounds or the population that served them. The chart retains a historical place whose later life cannot be supplied by a confident sentence.

History

The Shadow Crusade devastated Armatura during the Heresy. The surviving accounts establish the catastrophe without providing a continuous history of the next ten thousand years. They leave the later fate of its training institutions and industry unconfirmed.

Military significance

Ultramarine Evocati, neophytes and human auxiliaries defended the world alongside Skitarii and Legio Lysanda Titans. A fleet and orbital platforms protected its approach. That Heresy-era concentration explains its value as a target, but does not establish the survival of the same forces into the present eras.

Chart placement and sources

Disputed placement

The published Castrum Velx inset places Armatura northwest of Macragge, northeast of its historical Konor marker and southwest of Calth.

Armatura is absent from the current Inner Ultramar diagram. The older neighbour order cannot all be retained alongside the newer Konor and Calth layout. Its broad northwest placement is retained; precise alignment remains unresolved.

Source-reviewed regional estimate in the existing 0–1000 chart. The retained galaxy anchors, exact point and any ring size are not surveyed coordinates or territorial boundaries.
