Overview
Prandium was known for its gardens and agricultural wealth. It had already survived wars that damaged its landscape when Hive Fleet Behemoth arrived. This time the defenders withdrew, and the invaders consumed the living resources from which a recovery might have begun.
The planetary body remains. Its former society does not. The loss extends to the atmosphere, the fields and the conditions that had made the world habitable. Accounts describing Prandium’s beauty refer to the place before it was stripped. A ship sent there now cannot find a surviving province overlooked by the old casualty reports.
History
Heresy-era exercises on Prandium tested early Codex methods against simulated World Eater tactics, damaging the landscape. The world recovered its agricultural role and later survived further war during the age of the Beast. Behemoth’s consumption ended that sequence of recoveries.
Military significance
Calgar’s defenders could not hold Prandium and withdrew. Its loss helped drive concentration of the defence at Macragge. An Ultramarines force destroyed the bio-ship Eye of the Behemoth during the struggle, a success that did not save the world being fought over.
M41 and M42 status
Dead world after Behemoth
By late M41, Prandium is dead, stripped of biological resources and even its atmosphere. Its gardens belong to accounts of the place before the First Tyrannic War.
Dead world; no recovery established
No recovery is established. Passages associating troops with Prandium in the original Dark Imperium text were changed to Talassar in the later edition. They do not establish a new population on the consumed world.
