Overview
Parmenio served Ultramar by preparing warriors for battles expected to take place elsewhere. Training grounds allowed mistakes to be corrected before an enemy could make them fatal. That supporting role lasted until the Plague Wars brought occupation and corruption to the world itself.
Around Hecaton, the work of reclaiming the planet required armour, Titans and armies fighting amid supernatural ruin. The star fort Galatan fought above them. A place intended to make troops ready for war had become a front large enough to consume forces far beyond its own establishments. Reclamation could recover ground without making it fit to resume its former purpose.
History
Nurgle’s forces occupied and corrupted Parmenio during the invasion of Ultramar. Guilliman led the effort to recover it. Around the devastated Hecaton region, a world associated with training had to accommodate armies fighting both conventional enemies and daemonic forces.
Military significance
Armoured formations, Titans, auxiliaries and Space Marines fought on the ground while Galatan engaged above it. Guilliman confronted Ku’gath’s forces and slew Septicus. Recovering territory required defeating enemies capable of damaging the conditions of life in the places they held.
