Overview
Pech’s jagga forests have grown back over places the Kroot once made urban. After the overthrow of the ork occupation, the survivors allowed the woodland to reclaim those centres. The homeworld they preserved took a different shape from the industrial civilisation they could have rebuilt.
Kroot born elsewhere still feel the importance of Pech. Kindreds serve with T’au armies or seek their own employment among the stars, taking useful prey and traits back into their lineages. The alliance offers help when the homeworld is threatened. Its forests have nevertheless seen raids and Tyranid attacks, dangers that cannot be kept away by the attachment the species feels for them.
History
Through consuming ork traits, the Kroot gained abilities that supported technological growth and expansion. A later ork conquest was broken with T’au assistance, establishing the alliance associated with Anghkor Prok. The survivors let their former urban centres return to forest rather than restoring the earlier hive civilisation.
Military significance
Kindreds supply hunters, scouts and close-combat troops to T’au armies, while others serve independently. Farstalkers seek prey and genetic material beyond Pech. Hostile raids and Tyranid attacks on the homeworld demonstrate that the alliance can provide assistance without keeping every danger away.
