Overview
In the galleries of Solemnace, a living captive can be kept as part of an historical collection. Trazyn acquires objects, creatures and people according to interests their former owners have little power to dispute. Theft and negotiation are both available to him, depending on which will secure the specimen.
Canoptek constructs maintain the galleries while much of the tomb world’s strength remains dormant. The collection is carefully guarded, but preservation has its conditions. Trazyn can release captives into a fight when it suits him. A person kept beyond the end of his own age may discover that his survival has made him useful for one more war.
History
Solemnace predates human starflight. Accounts describe an artificial planetary structure with galleries expanded by machinery that does not tire. Trazyn adds to them through bargains as well as theft. Fabius Bile’s pursuit of old Emperor’s Children gene-stock brought him into dealings with the collector.
Military significance
Canoptek constructs, automated weapons and specialised servants guard the holdings. Much of the tomb remains dormant behind the active gallery forces. Trazyn can also release selected captives to fight on his behalf, turning preserved lives into expendable assets when the collection requires defence.
M41 and M42 status
Trazyn's defended collection world.
The collection remains guarded while events around the Thirteenth Black Crusade draw Trazyn’s attention beyond it.
Collection world survives an M42 daemon incursion; surviving holdings incompletely documented.
An account of Pestamutadis following Trazyn and Orikan through a portal ends with the daemon banished and Sannet stabilising the power source. Solemnace survives. Lexicanum attributes this to The Wicked and the Warped; the full state of the surviving collection remains unclear.
