Overview
In Vostroya’s families, the firstborn child carries an obligation older than anyone alive to explain it. The world once refused a demand for soldiers during the Heresy, keeping its people at industrial work. The repayment has continued through generations that had no part in the refusal.
The Firstborn leave a cold, polluted home under the authority of the Techtriarchs. Their weapons and uniforms are carefully maintained; some of their equipment has already served another soldier. Replacement recruits inherit more than an empty place in the ranks. They carry their family’s duty to a war that may be over before word of their death reaches home.
History
During the Heresy, Vostroya kept workers at industrial production instead of supplying the demanded soldiers. Its later atonement required firstborn children to enter Imperial service. Families continued to meet that obligation long after the people who made the original decision were dead.
Military significance
Firstborn equipment is carefully maintained and passed to replacement recruits. Ornate weapons and familiar uniforms connect soldiers abroad to the world that supplied them. Vostroyan industry also arms other Imperial forces, extending its contribution beyond the families surrendering their own children.

Imperial industrial world and Firstborn recruiting base
Production and recruitment continue under the Techtriarchs. Vostroya contains hives but retains its industrial classification, with authority shared between Mechanicus interests and other planetary institutions.
Firstborn tradition documented; local condition unverified
Official material continues to describe Firstborn service without providing a new planetary campaign report. The older figure of roughly 9.3 billion is not a current census. No later conquest or evacuation is established by the cited accounts.
