Overview
Calixis contains enough inhabited worlds for an Imperial official to speak of its population in totals he could never picture. From Scintilla, sector authorities issue demands through institutions whose reach overlaps with noble houses and commercial powers. A seal on an order does not remove the interests of the people expected to carry it out.
The sector was taken in the Angevin Crusade. The declaration that the conquest was complete left further pacification to those who followed. Its worlds now supply campaigns beyond their borders while frontier wars continue close to home. In the settlements providing the troops, a victory elsewhere is liable to arrive as another demand for men.
History
The Angevin Crusade converted the Calyx Expanse into an Imperial domain. Drusus declared the campaign complete and took Scintilla as the seat of the first Lord Sector. Military pacification continued after that declaration, alongside the creation of trade privileges, courts and ecclesiastical authority.
Military significance
Sector resources support the Spinward Front against Orks and the Severan Dominate, while the Jericho campaign draws further troops away. Within Calixis, the Inquisition pursues threats that fleets cannot resolve by winning a battle. Different authorities can claim the same limited manpower for dangers equally difficult to dismiss.
M41 and M42 status
Established Imperial sector centred on Scintilla.
Established Imperial rule coexists with internal rivalries and frontier war. Calixian worlds meet local demands while supplying campaigns whose needs are determined elsewhere.
Detailed post-Rift sector fate unconfirmed.
The cited sources do not establish the sector’s overall post-Rift fate. The later circumstances of governors, institutions and military fronts remain unresolved.
