Overview
The Jericho Reach was once an Imperial sector. Communication deteriorated, routes failed and its institutions lost the power to keep the region together. Human societies left behind survived among alien powers and Chaos domains, while the Imperium beyond them continued without a workable account of their lives.
Discovery of an ancient gate made return possible on a military scale. The Achilus Crusade came to recover territory Imperial authority had long ceased to protect. Its armies found several wars awaiting them. The Deathwatch had maintained an older vigil through the isolation, with purposes that do not begin or end at the crusade’s proposed borders.
History
Settlement began during the Great Crusade. In the Age of Apostasy, damaged communications and political collapse opened the long Age of Shadow. Discovery of the ancient gate made a new invasion feasible, giving the Achilus Crusade a means to return to territory the Imperium had ceased to govern effectively.
Military significance
The crusade fights T’au, Chaos and Tyranid forces on separate fronts. Deathwatch operations predate the invasion and pursue threats outside its territorial objectives. Two Imperial forces in the same region can therefore regard different work as the immediate priority.

Chart placement and sources
Provisional placement
The official Deathwatch map places Hadex inside the Jericho Reach. Battle Honours locates Hadex southeast of the T'au core and northeast of Macragge.
The local Reach map is rimward-up, not galactic north-up. Its circular display marker is a regional reference, not a measured boundary.
Source-reviewed regional estimate in the existing 0–1000 chart. The retained galaxy anchors, exact point and any ring size are not surveyed coordinates or territorial boundaries.
